ProviderScoreShort justification
Mindtime
9/10●Excellent
All-in price per user or per TB including managed service for M365; a custom quote is needed for broader workloads and tailored setups.
Backblaze
9/10●Excellent
Public flat price per computer (from $99/year) with unlimited storage; B2 object storage is billed separately.
Synology C2
8/10◆Strong
Public, tiered price per TB with no extra cost for upload, restore, or download; check minimum commitment per plan.
Acronis
7/10◆Strong
Modular licenses (per workload, protection packs) and cloud storage make total cost dependent on the configuration.
Veeam
7/10◆Strong
License, storage, and support costs vary by product and edition; storage is billed separately.
2. Storage & scalability10Veeam9Acronis8Mindtime8Backblaze7Synology C2+

ProviderScoreShort justification
Veeam
10/10●Excellent
Very broad workload coverage and scalable architecture; requires appropriate design and management.
Acronis
9/10●Excellent
Broad multi-tenant platform for endpoints, SaaS, servers, and cloud; the storage model differs by service.
Mindtime
8/10◆Strong
A single console for M365, Google Workspace, VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, physical servers, SQL/MySQL, NAS, endpoints, and AWS/Azure/Google Cloud; the integration ecosystem is smaller than Veeam's or Acronis's.
Backblaze
8/10◆Strong
Unlimited storage within the endpoint offering; servers, VMs, and broader workloads require additional services (B2) and setup.
Synology C2
7/10◆Strong
Strong around Synology NAS, endpoints, and selected SaaS; less broad as a universal platform.
3. Security & compliance9Mindtime9Acronis9Veeam8Backblaze8Synology C2+
Scores and criteria explained in our methodology.See how we compare →
ProviderScoreShort justification
Mindtime
9/10●Excellent

Acronis
9/10●Excellent
Anti-malware, anti-ransomware, encryption, and immutable storage available; some features are edition- or add-on-dependent.
Veeam
9/10●Excellent
Immutability, encryption, and cyber-resilience features; maximum protection requires expert configuration. Data location is chosen by the customer.
Backblaze
8/10◆Strong
Encryption (optionally with your own key) and lockdown features; depth of security and retention varies by product and plan.
Synology C2
8/10◆Strong
Strong encryption with an option for your own (private) key; a less broad security and compliance suite.
4. Ease of management9Backblaze8Mindtime8Acronis8Synology C27Veeam+
Scores and criteria explained in our methodology.See how we compare →

Mindtime
8/10◆Strong
Managed operations, automation, and a single management process limit day-to-day admin burden.
Acronis
8/10◆Strong
Central console and multi-tenant management; the broad feature set increases setup complexity.
Synology C2
8/10◆Strong
Clear workflows and self-service for supported devices; advanced scenarios require product knowledge.

Acronis
9/10●Excellent
Point-in-time, granular, and fast recovery; exact RPO/RTO varies by workload, license, and setup.
Veeam
9/10●Excellent
Granular recovery, instant recovery, and orchestration; achievable RTO depends on architecture and workload.
Synology C2
8/10◆Strong

Because the total scores are close together, your organization's situation is a better guide than the total score.

If you mainly…Then look at
want a managed service with hosting in NL/DE, local support, and recovery guidanceMindtime
want to protect many different workloads (VMs, servers, cloud, SaaS) and have your own backup teamVeeam, Acronis
want backup and endpoint protection in a single console, possibly via an MSPAcronis
mainly want to protect laptops and workstations simply at a predictable priceBackblaze
already work with Synology NAS or want straightforward NAS/endpoint backupSynology C2

Conclusion

There is no single universal best choice. In this benchmark, Mindtime scores highest on average (8.7), mainly due to managed operations, EU data location, and support. Veeam (8.3) and Acronis (8.3) are the strongest options for maximum platform breadth or integrated security, but require more in-house expertise. Backblaze (8.0) and Synology C2 (7.7) are strong in simplicity and specific scenarios. For Mindtime, Veeam, and Acronis, RTO and response times partly depend on contract or configuration; always ask about these.

Methodological note. This is an editorial assessment, not an independent product test. Competitors score highly where their product is demonstrably strong. Where performance varies by contract, edition, or configuration, that is noted the same way for every provider, including Mindtime.

All scores form an editorial benchmark based on publicly available product information, not an independent product test. Always check current quotes, SLAs, and terms yourself before purchasing. Information is reviewed at least every quarter.
